Student Self-Assessment Confirmation Requirements

In response to the highly transmissible Omicron variant, the Ontario government, in consultation with the Chief Medical Officer of Health, has made several public health recommendations. The Ministry of Education requires all students attending school in-person to complete Ontario’s Daily School Self-Screening Tool and provide a confirmation of self-screening prior to their arrival at school.

Virtual Learning Update January 2022

As you may already be aware, the Government of Ontario has confirmed that elementary and secondary schools in Ontario will be closed for in-class learning following the winter break until at least January 17, 2022. In order to ensure a smooth transition to remote learning for students and to provide time for our school staff to plan for these changes, remote learning for all students will begin Thursday January 6, 2022. NPSC staff will be working on Wednesday January 5, 2022 to prepare students for remote learning and for the distribution of technology.

Student Self-Assessment Confirmation Requirements

As an additional step to support the safe return of in-person learning provincially, the Ministry of Education required all school boards to implement a confirmation of self-screening for all elementary students prior to their arrival at school until Tuesday September 21, 2021. The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit is requiring all schools within its boundaries to continue daily on-site confirmation of self-screening until October 1, 2021.....

Ontario Moves Schools to Remote Learning Following Spring Break

The Ontario government has announced its decision to move elementary and secondary schools to remote learning following the April 12-16 spring break. All publicly funded elementary and secondary schools in the province will be moving to teacher-led remote learning when students return from the April break on April 19. Asymptomatic Testing Available for NPSC Students and Staff
03/31/2021
COVID-19 rapid antigen testing is now available at select Shoppers Drug Mart and Loblaw Pharmacy locations for students, children, and staff of the Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board. Testing is voluntary and participants will need to be asymptomatic in-order to be eligible to receive a COVID-19 rapid antigen test. "Read more" for important details.

Schools Return to In-Person Learning January 11
12/23/2020
On December 21, 2020 the Premier of Ontario announced that the province will be entering into a lockdown beginning December 26, 2020. As part of the safety measures put into place during the provincial lockdown, elementary and secondary schools in our district will be closed and all learning will continue to take place virtually from January 4-8, 2021. Both elementary and secondary schools will reopen for in-person learning on Monday, January 11, 2021. Further details regarding virtual learning, distribution of technology and other important information will be available in the near future. Parents are encouraged to continue to check Edsby, the board website and social media for the most recent information from our school board.
